Time at home
Saturday, December 31st, 2005Probably most of you reading this know that I live in Panama, but right now I’m home in Wisconsin for the holidays. I’ve only got a few more days before I’ll be heading back to Central America. My time home has been really good this Christmas. I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time with my family and also see some good friends.
This last week I’ve been pretty busy just hanging out and having a good time. Here’s a rundown.
Monday we were still with Chris and Becky. Went and did a little post Christmas shopping, had some good enchaladas, watched some episodes of 24, and then drove home.
Tuesday Andrew and I went snowbording at Devil’s Head Resort, with Matt, and Tyler & Justin. Had a really good time. It was Tyler’s first time sking, but he did a really good job. It’s always fun to go with the newbies. Tuesday night we went to young adults at RCF and then of corse made the requisite trip to Culvers afterwords. Stayed out with Nate and Luke Mockler till about 11:30.
Wednesday I actually worked a little bit. Dad has a piano rebuild project going in the shop that I’m helping with. Last week I pulled the old wire and pins out, pulled the plate, did some soundbord repair, and put the plate back in. So, Wednesday it was ready for the new wire. I only worked about 2 hours or 2 and a half, but I was able to get it about half strung. Wednesday night I went over to the Mockler’s place and hung out with them. Had a great time; they’re really awesome people.
Thursday I finished stringing the piano. I started about 9 and finished right before 12. In the afternoon I think I went to Wal-Mart or something. (actually it seems like I end up doing that most days) It’s kinda good to go to Wally World though cause I get to see people there that I wouldn’t see otherwise. We may not go to church together anymore, but we still shop at the same Wal-Mart. he he…. Thursday night Dad, Mom, Rebecca and I went out for dinner and then went and saw the Chronicles of Narnia movie, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wordrobe. I was actually pretty impressed with the movie. You never know what’ll happen when Disney makes a movie out of such a good book (one that’s so strongly Christian), if they’ll screw it up or not.(I don’t have much faith in the media) But thankfully they stuck to the story really closely, and the message came through well. Hearing the story again, I was really impressed with how much salvation is God’s work and not ours. We’ve betrayed Him and deserve death, but yet He chose to take that death we deserved upon Himself, and offer us forgivness. He’s done everything for us. Of corse we all know this, but sometimes more than others the truth and reality of it really sink into our hearts. It helped to renew my appreciation who God is and what He’s done for us.
Friday Rebecca was off work (kinda a rare ocation) so we decided to go to Madison and hang out. We went a couple places and then….(can you guess??) went to a movie and went out to eat. We had a really good time. I love my sister.
Today so far I’m just being a bum. It’s good though to have this time with my family and not have too much I have to do.
Hope you all have a happy new year.
