There’s not place like Home!

We are now home Cry and I can't believe all the changes that are taking place in the little town of Waxhaw, while we were gone for the two months.  This will be my last posting and I thought I'd leave you with some pictures of Bob and our granddaughter Brandi, enjoying the beach behind our trailer in Hickory, NC. Wink

Burrr, this water is cold! Are you having fun yet, pop? How about a nice wash. Now let's rinse you off.

Starting to head for home

We left Cody, WY on Friday, July 7th. Heading south, we stopped in Thermopolis, to see the hot springs.  From there we traveled south to Shoshoni and down to Cheyenne, WY where we stayed overnight at a campground.  That was a full 12 hours of driving for us but it was worth it as we viewed all new territory.  From Cheyenne to Lincolin, NE and another 12 hour day.  On Sunday, we arrived back in Cedar Rapids, IA to spend a week with Becky and the girls as Chris left on a business trip.

Buffalo Bill Cody Dam

This a great dam to see.  After the dam, we went to the Buffalo Bill Historic center.  We spent 2 days looking and reading.  It was well worth the time and we highly recommend it to anyone going out to Cody.

Happy 4th of July from Cody, WY

Happy 4th everyone!!  It's a busy time here in Cody during this 4th.  It starts 3 days before with parades and entertainment of all kinds both at the City park, Irma's and at the campground here.  Let's start with some back pictures and work up to today.  This is a pretty slow connection so I'll see how far I can get in 30 minutes.  (click on pictures to view larger)

As it turns out, I lost the connection and now I'm finally getting to a CG that has a good wifi connection.  Soo, I'm going to try and do the catch up thing.  These pictures took place on July 2nd.

Parade in Cody, WY

The stampede parade started at 9:30 am and we had great seats.  We have been to a lot of parades in our lives but this is the first one, that we ever saw with so many horses.  Even the "Out riders" (police) were on horses.

This is what the street looked like as people lined up The starting of the parade I was really taking pictures of the horses rather than the riders Back country horseman who work in the Shoshoni National Forrest who help to maintain the trailsAll ages get involved These are the out riders (police) This is the Old West Mounted Lawmen Assoc. They are either current or former lawmen. He was representing all Yellowstone mountain menOnly Ilama trekking provider in the Big Horn Basin area Yes that pink dog is real Check out these beautiful horses Notice the out riders taking off. Right where we were sitting, an indian girl on a gorgeous, black horse passed in the parade. Just then, one of the mountain men shot off his gun and the horse spooked. The girl couldn't get the horse under control and next thing you know, the horse slipped on the street and both girl and horse went down. Horse falling on the top part of the girl and the girl also hit her head. Parade was stopped and EMT's called. The horse turned out to be fine, but the girl died before getting to the hospital.DSCN1340.JPG The HOGS were in town and got into the parade I just had to have another picture. DSCN1349.JPGSpent the rest of the day listening and watching all the entertainment.

Touring around Cody

I'm not sure how much posting will get done this week as the wifi doesn't work from the trailer.  I have to come, a little ways, to the office and work off my battery to get anything done.

Today we go on a trolley ride to tour the town and hear about the history of Cody.  From there, who knows.  I did want to assure our number two daughter that Cody is a great place to come!  It has everything she needs!Laughing
